Remote Desktop: Connect to Another Computer (Windows 7)

NOTE: In order to connect to an on-campus computer, you must commencement log into the LSU VPN. For more information run into VPN: LSU Overview

Step 1 - On the Computer That Y'all Plan ToCONNECT TO :

These steps allow for Remote Admission to a specific Windows 7 Computer.  This is typically your Part Computer, however it could besides be a server or other departmental resources.

1. Open up the Control Panel: First | Control Console .

3. Click Allow Remote Access.

4. Nether the Remote Tab:

  • Select "Allow Remote Assistance connections to this computer".

  • Select "Allow connections simply from computers running Remote Desktop with Network Level Authentication (more secure)".

v. Click Select Users.

Select Users button.

  • ClickAdd.

Add Remote Desktop User button.

  • Enter yourmyLSU ID and click OK when finished.

Select Users or Groups dialog box.

six. Under the Reckoner Name Tab:  Make a note of the [Full Estimator Proper noun].

Stride 2 -- Remotely Connect toSome other Computer

1. Click Kickoff and search forRemote Desktop Connexion.

2. Enter the Full Computer Name you noted in Step half-dozen, and click Connect. You may demand to enter a username and password depending on the access credentials that are required by the other user or the other figurer.
